About Home Baked Today

Where home kitchens
become community

Growing up, I remember the smell of freshly baked apple pie, my favorite as a child. My mom was a wonderful home baker. She always made mine and my brothers’ birthday cakes every year, and eventually all her grandchildren’s birthday cakes. I used to encourage my mom to start a shop to offer cakes for sale, but she didn’t have the funds to open her own business. My Aunt Linda was also a wonderful baker. She was always baking pies, cakes, brownies and her homemade ice cream, which was my favorite.

As an adult I would find different bakeries that I loved, but sadly most didn’t last. The brick-and-mortar stores are expensive to run, and unfortunately most don’t succeed.

I created this website to reignite a sense of community, and to give home bakers a platform to sell their goods. By connecting locals to nearby home bakers, I hoped to create new opportunities for meaningful exchange. Neighborhoods thrive when people support each other, and nothing fosters this spirit quite like sharing food made with care.

I want my website to offer home bakers a platform to showcase their creations, tell their stories, and connect with customers who value authenticity and quality. It lowers the barriers to entry for small-scale entrepreneurs, allowing them to build businesses organically, at their own pace. By featuring profiles, photos, and personalized menus, the platform empowers bakers to share not only their treats but their journeys, dreams, and inspirations.
